
Rosie Perez, born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964 is an American choreographer and actress. Her breakout role as Tina in Do the Right Thing (1989) was followed by White Men Can't jump (1992). Perez was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Fearless (1993). Perez's main roles in movies include It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado(2000), Pineapple Express (2007) and Birds of Prey (2018). Perez also earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990, 1994 and) as well as another Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her role as the Flight Attendant. Her roles have included Broadway stage productions such as The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. She was also a co-host on the ABC talk show The View during the series' 18th season. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens. Her mother lived in the poverty of Woodside Houses by 1999. She passed away from complications of AIDS in the year 1999.
